Nan Warner, MD received the WIM Quilt for this year to comfort her in the loss of her wife after 65 years together (Christine Reynolds) as well as her own long recovery from a head injury during a fall. The quilt was lovingly made with WIM T-shirts from WIM conferences in the past, many of which Nan and Chris attended together over the past 35 years. Recently, Michelle Garrido, MD and her family visited Nan in her home in Pasadena, CA with their two year old son!
While a medical student at the University of Illinois, Michelle received the Reynolds-Warner LGBT leadership scholarship which contributes $5000 toward medical school tuition at a WIM conference a few years ago. Michelle recently completed her residency in Family and Community Medicine At UCLA-Harbor and is now in practice in the LA area.
